Josephine Overall Obituary

Josephine Delores Overall, age 64, of Elyria, Ohio, transitioned to be with the Lord on Thursday, December 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Josephine was born on March 25,1961, in Elaine, Arkansas, to Lee Vora Carlton and Robert Lee Arnett. She later made Elyria her home, where she graduated from Elyria High School in 1980. Josephine went on to pursue higher education, earning her associate degree in human services from Ohio Christian University and later continuing her studies in Electronic Health Records at the University of Phoenix.

With a heart for caring for others, Josephine dedicated over forty years of service as an STNA. Her compassion, work ethic, and commitment touched the lives of countless individuals and families throughout her career. Josephine found her greatest joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved barbecuing, sewing, dancing and trips to the casino. Her laughter, warmth, and vibrant personality filled every room she entered.

She was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Lee Vora and Nathanuel Carlton, father, Robert Lee Arnett, her brother, George Arnett, sisters, Carla Nolen and Valarie Nixon, and a host of other cherished loved ones.

Affectionately known as Phiney, Aunt Phiney, Josie, Mz Josie, Granny, Shorty, Loli Pop, Mommy and Toots, Josephine leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Twanda (Wanda) and Kea (Black Blonde) Parnell of Kansas; Jovanna (Von) and Demetrius (Mee Mee) Willis; Jerrael (Man) Overall; and Tora (Candy Apple) Overall all of Ohio. She also leaves behind thirteen beloved grandchildren: Demetrius (Boo Boo), D’Vontae (Vonny), Darien (D-Man), D’Nazhay (NaNa), Zyion (Spider), Za’nyla (Nyla), Eddie, Dallas English, Xzyiah (Mula), Jiel, Aleiah (Ms. Pearl), Te’Lena, a very special grandchild Emarion (Hoopa) who she took great pride in raising and one great-grandchild Dahmir (Mir Mir) all of Ohio.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Josephine leaves to cherish her memory….siblings: Erma Arnett, Roy and Carol Arnett, Kathy Currie, Janice and George Parson, Toney Griffin, Charles and Laurie Griffin, Erica Griffin, Natalie and Rodney Scott, Renee and Warren Carlton-Berry all of Ohio. Beloved great-aunts, Viola Watson, Thudy Banks and aunt, Sandra and Jerry Henry of Arkansas. Josephine also leaves to cherish her memory, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and her best friend/bonus sister of forty plus years Dr. Lynn and Emmett Braxton of Georgia.

A Private visitation of family only will be held on Saturday December 27, 2025, at 11am, with a Celebration of Life for the public to begin at 12 noon located at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church 3900 Clifton Ave Lorain, OH.
